The days are shorter, the trees now bare, temperatures slowly
erratically creeping lower. Never before have I witnessed a town
bustling with outdoor diners in the middle of November, everyone trying
to capitalize on the warm, sunny afternoons when we are graced with them.
I eavesdrop on restaurateurs recounting their tales of trying to secure heaters for their patios and the cutthroat Facebook Marketplace transactions. I observe the neighboring diners, who brought blankets, making a mental note that is a good idea. I lament how quickly my coffee has gotten cold (which isn't long enough even when indoors.)
As long as the sun shines, it's warm and beautiful, but once it sets and the evening chill settles in, the illusion of "dress weather" fades. At such time, it's best to have a furry layer on hand, or be ready to call it a night at 4:30 p.m.

Such a great print on that dress!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely enjoy the outdoors while you can! I'm glad at least one of us is getting out, haha!

I feel like we are having the same eavesdropping conversations! The other day I ate outside and it was 31 but the sun was out so I was like it's totally warm and forced myself into pretending it was before I am cut off from eating out. (other than takeout)
ReplyDeleteIt's so great that you're still getting nice weather and able to do things outdoors without freezing. Temperatures are steadily falling here and so it my ability to see people as a result.

That's such a fun leopard print dress! It's nice the warmer weather lets you get outside a little more, and the blanket while dining outside is a really clever idea when it starts to get cold! :)
ReplyDeleteHope that your week is off to a great start! We spent the day shopping with my sister yesterday, it was so much fun :)

I am loving this dress and cardigan combo!
ReplyDeleteThat outfit is so cute! The dress and the print are so perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe idea of eating in a restaurant - any restaurant, anywhere - sounds so lovely right now! Our restaurants have been closed for in-person dining for about a month and there's no indication of them reopening anytime soon. Not that outdoor dining would be feasible with the snow and cold here, but still... it's nice to imagine that it could be. And if I'm imagining, anyway, I'll imagine that I've borrowed your dress and heels - and your cardigan, too, come to that - because they're all perfect together.

Cardigans and leopard print are two of my favorite things and I love how you combined them both for this look! xoxo, Sarah
ReplyDeleteYou described such a beautiful afternoon that I envy your experience! I haven't been out and about in that way in so, so long - and if I am.. I usually avoid people however I can, so it's such a different feeling. I miss some of the hustle and bustle of everyday life at a coffee shop or mall. I also miss having a reason to wear cute dresses like this. I love it! The sweater is a beautiful addition to the look as well!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a great writer. For a second I thought I was reading one of my books! This look is so gorgeous and the temps have def been dropping, even here!
